How can you tell whether you have the computer skills necessary to do an online MLM business? Good question. There are a lot of people out there who are interesting in promoting their MLM businesses online, but may or may not have the computer skills necessary to do that. How can you tell? Simple. It breaks down to the age-old formula that seems to apply to everything in life:
Success = Skills + Time … or Money
You Can Do Online MLM Even Without Computer Skills
It’s true. I’ve seen people do it. People who can barely turn on their computer and read their email have been successful at marketing their MLM businesses online. How? Well, using the equation above, since they don’t have the skills, they apply money. They pay someone else to set up their MLM website, route appropriate emails to them, and handle all the other online promotion tasks.
It works great! The people I know who are successful with this model spend $300 to $500 per month on this. For most, cash flow is obviously not an immediate problem, and the money spent on online MLM marketing is considered an investment that does pay off.
The Skills You Need to Do Online MLM Yourself
Of course, if you don’t have and extra $300 to $500 to spend each month paying someone to do your online promotional activities, then you’re going to have to do it yourself. So what kind of computer skills will you need to handle your own online MLM promotion? At a minimum, I believe you need to be able to:
- send and receive emails
- sign yourself up for various online accounts, such as email, article directories, and social media sites
- format your written materials for online publication using a simple text editor, like Notepad or Text soap (tons of free instruction online on how to do this)
- login and access online magazines and materials, such as Networking Times
- fill in the appropriate blanks on a duplicated company-approved website, should you choose to use one (such as your name, ID#, and contact phone)
- post stuff online, like posts to your own blog, comments on other people’s blogs, entries in online forums, and tweets on Twitter
These are the minimum skills you need to get started with online MLM marketing. Beyond that, the online world offers an immense “continuing education” opportunity such that you’ll never run out of stuff to learn.
The Most Important Skill You Need
Having listed all of these basic skills, the most important skill you need to have to be successful in online marketing is this:
… the willingness to ask for help!
If you are willing to acknowledge your ignorance and ask for help, you’ve got it made. People online will always, always help you. True, sometimes you have to ask more than one person for help, but if you keep asking, help will always be forthcoming. For instance, Michael Lemm has been of immense help to me about the online MLM marketing world. Also, be forewarned that when you foray into the online world, if you make a mistake someone will definitely tell you, sometimes rudely. Just be prepared for this and acknowledge that the person is helping you, even if their tone of voice is less than polite.
I’ve gotten a lot of online help over the years, both paid and unpaid, and I’m always willing to pay it forward.
If you’re looking for some casual help, drop me a line.
If you are looking for an online MLM mentor and a strong online business opportunity, let me know. I’m always keen to invest in people who want to work and play online!
