In my last post I listed 5 probing questions you should ask yourself about your connection to your MLM company. If you were able to answer those questions easily, off the top of your head, then chances are that you are well-connected with your company. In that case, your passion for your MLM product and opportunity probably shine through in your online presence. Yay you!
If you were not able to answer those questions easily (or at all), then you might need to spend some time getting hooked up with the key benefits and exciting features of your company. After all, if you don’t have lots of reasons to get excited about your company or its products, why should anyone else?
But don’t worry. Hang in there, ’cause in upcoming posts I’m going to list a bunch of different ways for you to connect with your MLM opportunity, company, and products in a very deep way. But, before I do, fair is fair. If I’m going to ask you to answer those probing questions, it’s only fair that I answer the same questions, too.
My Answers to the 5 Probing MLM Questions
So here goes. These are my answers about my connection to my MLM company. It took me a while to answer some of these questions, and some of the answers may surprise you. I’m being perfectly honest in my answers, so I’ll appear like in idiot in some cases!
1. Why did you choose the MLM company you chose?
I had been with another MLM company for over a decade when the company made some serious changes to their compensation plan. The changes made the plan overly complicated to explain online, which deeply affected my chosen marketing method: online MLM marketing. That’s when I decided to move to my current company, which has a compensation plan that is simplicity itself. Now here’s the silly part: some of my friends had moved over to this new company and it sounded like “a good time,” so I joined up. Girls, gossip, and good fun. It’s turned out to be a far more business-driven company than “Sex and the City” girls ‘n gossip fun, which is excellent. I can easily find gossip in lots of other places. Business is definitely business, and this company is all business.
2. Is that a good reason for someone else to join?
With this MLM company, joining because of the excellent and simple compensation plan is a great reason to join. The second reason I joined, which was purely social, isn’t as good of a reason to join this company. Of course, if you can make any MLM business as social as you want (with home skin care parties, for instance), but there are really better companies out there for creating a more social atmosphere.
3. Can you name three positive reasons someone would want to buy your company’s products?
#1: The benefits of the product’s main ingredients are proven by 30 years of scientific research.
#2: The products are in line with at least four fast-growing trends in the healthcare arena.
#3: The products are first-to-market in two major markets. Being first-to-market frequently creates a major monetary advantage for the company that gets there first (for example, with aloe juice).
4. Can you list 3 facts about your company that would attract people to join your group as a business builder?
#1: The company has major media coverage. For instance, the main product ingredient was recommended on Oprah.
#2: The company pays 50 cents of every dollar of profit earned to distributors. No ifs, and, or buts. Half of every single dollar. Many companies claim payment of “up to 50%” but that’s the maximum payout, not a guaranteed payout. This company pays a guaranteed 50 cents per dollar profit .
#3: The company’s growth is steady and fast, on par with companies like Nike, Dell, Yahoo, Cisco, and Starbucks.
5. Do you know where you MLM company ranks in the MLM industry by volume, growth, or number of distributors?
Yes. The company ranks 4th by volume in the MLM industry.
Well folks, there you have ‘em. My answers to the 5 questions. I confess that for the first year-and-a-half that I was part of this MLM company, I could only answer the first question. I had to actually take some action steps to find the answers to the other questions. Once I did, though, my online MLM presence took a major jump. Why? Because answering these probing questions increased my connection to the company. The answers to these questions impressed me, and took me beyond my original reasons for joining. These answers have made me more passionate about hooking up more people with the company.
One more confession: I was a reluctant participant in every step of getting more connected with the company. It was only after multiple prods from one of my online MLM coaches that I actually did the necessary research to get the questions. I’m a maverick at heart, and I LOVE the fact that I’m often way out in left field–and successful in spite of it. But I trusted this coach, and so I had to follow up on his, ahem, strong suggestions. Not easy for a maverick.
For instance, it took a good cigar, a chocolate bar, and 2 hours for me to listen to a 30 minute wenbinar. I don’t learn well by listening (at least that’s what I’ve always told myself). Pretty low productivity, right? But I got at least some of the answers I was after, and gained a lot more in confidence (not to mention goodies for this blog!). So if you’re feeling reluctant about getting the answers to these questions, acknowledge your feelings. I do. Then stop whining and start digging for answers! It’s worth it!
