Internet MLM: What Would Clint Eastwood and Audrey Hepburn Say?

by Stephanie on April 10, 2009

clinteastwoodThere’s a lot we MLMers can learn from movie stars. What makes them BIG is their recognizable personalities. Everybody knows that “Make my day” is synonymous with Clint Eastwood, his gravelly voice, and unique delivery. Mae West hit the nail on the head when she once said, “Personality is the glitter that sends your little gleam across the footlights and the orchestra pit into that big black space where the audience is.”

Just for fun, here are some notable quotes that, if applied to network marketing, illustrate for you how important the personality of your upline is, and why you might choose one type of personality over another.

Clint Eastwood
“Sometimes if you want to see a change for the better, you have to take things into your own hands.”
Instead of griping about the economy and your own financial situation, do something to change it. If you’re a take-charge kinda person, you might like to join Clint’s downline.

Elizabeth Taylor
“I feel very adventurous. There are so many doors to be opened, and I’m not afraid to look behind them.”
Having survived eight marriages, Elizabeth Taylor has the optimism and adventure that can really fuel (energize?) an internet MLM business. If you have an adventuresome spirit, what with new MLM tools and techniques popping up left, right, and center, along with incredible marketing potential through the internet, joining Liz’s downline might be just your cup of tea.

Gary Cooper
“To get folks to like you, I figured you had to sort of be their ideal. I don’t mean a handsome knight riding a white horse, but a fellow who answered the description of a right guy.”
To be the “right guy” that Gary speaks of, you need to be a real person who lives a real life and overcomes real challenges. The “Garys” of network marketing allow their “real life” (instead of hype) to be the cornerstone of their internet MLM business. If you’re a down-to-earth kind of guy, with sensible goals and the desire to succeed, you should be real comfortable in Gary Cooper’s downline.

Audrey Hepburn
“Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it’s at the end of your arm. As you get older, remember you have another hand: the first is to help yourself, the second is to help others.”
This quote captures the essence of MLM, one that is frequently overlooked. When you join an MLM upline with a strong sense of teamwork, you’ll get a lot of helping hands. Why? Because when your upline helps you succeed, they help themselves succeed as well. The same is true for you when you help someone in your downline succeed. If you are good at accepting help and advice and have a compelling desire to help others, then you’ll love being part of Audrey’s group.

Charlie Chaplin

“Failure is unimportant. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself.”
Charlie Chaplin, the king of on-screen foolishness, long ago overcame one of the biggest barriers to MLM success: embarrassment. It’s the one emotion that most often stops people from doing MLM. People can’t imagine themselves “selling” their MLM products or opportunity. Relax and be willing to cause a laugh or two. There’s a learning curve for everything. You just have to be you and, like Charlie, not afraid to be you. Charlie will love having you on his team!

Now think of your own unique response to an MLM business invitation. What about it is going to make people want to join your team instead of someone else’s?
