MLM How-To: Get the Help You Need from Online Forums

Get the Help You Need!

A staggering 95% of network marketers fail in the first year of business. This statistic can be both discouraging and depressing, especially if the person who sponsored you into the business is one of those people who has fallen by the wayside. It happens a lot!

If you have become an MLM orphan then you may not know where to get the “MLM how to” knowledge you need. Luckily, the internet, especially online forums, has a wealth of information you can use. Here are three steps you can take to get help from forums dedicated to MLM and online marketing.

** Step 1: Find the Right Forums **

To find the “MLM how to” information you need, first look for forums targeted at home business, MLM, or online marketing (if you want to market your business on the internet). Just type terms like “MLM forum” or “home business forum” into Google and you’ll pull up hundreds of options. Browse through the listings and visit forums that sound interesting. Look for forums that have plenty of traffic and multiple recent posts that are no more than a day old. This tells you the forum is active, popular, and will probably have up-to-date “MLM how to” information.

** Step 2: Register for the Best Forums **
Once you have found the forums that seem to provide the “MLM how to” information that best meets your needs, the next step is to register for a few of them. We generally recommend registering at 2 or 3 forums. You don’t want to sign up for too many forums because you won’t have the time to read through and post to all of them. Instead, focus on a few forums that cover different areas of need. For instance, you might sign up for one forum for MLM and another for online marketing. When you sign up be sure to complete all the confirmation steps (so you really are a member) and fill in all the profile fields, including adding your picture. With a complete profile, when you do post to the forum people will know more about you and be more likely to respond.

** Step 3: Research and Post Your Questions **
Before you make your first post and ask all those burning “MLM how to” questions, stop and do a little research first. Someone else may have already posted your question in a previous thread and if so, you don’t want to ask the question again. It is considered poor forum etiquette to post a new thread (a forum conversation) about something that has already been asked. You should read the existing thread and post any additional thoughts or questions to the same thread. To avoid creating a redundant forum thread use the search feature to look for anything similar that might have already been posted. You might also browse recent posts in the appropriate categories.

If you are sure that no one has already posted your question, feel free to post. Be sure to explain your situation clearly and be as detailed about your question as possible. This ensures that you will more likely get the answers you are looking for the first time around. To monitor responses to your post, use the “Watch this forum” feature. Most forums offer this feature, which notifies you by email when you get a response. Finally, when you get responses to your posts, be immediate in your reply and appreciative as well. Remember that forums are a free service so express your appreciation for any nuggets of knowledge you pick up there.
