That may sound like a strange thing to say, but if you stop and think about, you’ll realize that online MLM really is about the art of having total strangers fall in “like” with you. Still sound strange? Let me break it down into an equation.
Total Strangers = Most people who come in contact with you online don’t know you, and hence are total strangers.
Fall in Like = Falling in love or lust isn’t appropriate in this situation, but falling in “like” is good. In other words, you want your online presence to be special enough that people like what they see and read … and want to come back, often.
So, put together, you want your online presence to be special, cool, quirky, fun, educational, or intriguing enough to have people like it, hopefully a lot.
How to be Likable in Online MLM
So how do you create a likable online presence? The short answer is that you have to take the factors that make you special, which I discussed in a previous blog post, and express those online.
There are lots of ways to do that. Suppose you’ve decided to write a home business blog as part of your online MLM presence. To translate the “special features” about you into online fodder, you could:
- use personal stories and anecdotes that your audience will relate to
- demonstrate your expertise by writing useful “how to” blog posts
- spark people’s interest by putting out a number of surprising “Did you know …?” posts
- write in a style that reflects your personality, be that humorous, quirky, or razor sharp
- post a pictures of yourself that shows exactly what kind of person you are
- run a contest that allows people to express themselves about a common point of interest and give relevant products from your MLM business to the winners
- use a blog theme and background that reflects your passions
- write a very unique “about” page (one person I know did theirs like a WANTED classified ad)
- comment on current events as related to your products and business to express your unique position on happenings in the world
You get the picture. There are multiple ways to “translate” the things that make you special into your home business blog, and your general online presence. If you did the exercise from a previous blog post, where you selected 2-3 major factors that made you special, it’s now time to do some brainstorming on how to translate those factors into online features.
Do Your Research
If you draw a blank when you try to do this translation, do some research. It’s sometimes easier to figure out what you want to create online by looking at what other people have already created. For instance, just type “home business blog” into Google and check out the first 20 or 30 listings. You will see an amazing array of blogs, from the weird and wonderful to the downright disturbing. And that is bound to spark some ideas and inspiration for what you want on your own home business blog.
Ready? Good. Go for it!
