Websites, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. Your website should definitely match your personality and your area of specialty (which is whatever quality about you that makes you stand out from the MLM crowd).
Online MLM Website “Must Haves”
There are a million different things that you could put on your website, but at a minimum here are the things that should go on your custom MLM website.
Front Page: What’s the Story?
This page should give the main message or storyline you want to convey with your website. This page includes your business name, a tag line, and a lines that make up your “story line.” For instance, my website and business title is Go MLM Online and the tag line is “MLM for People Who Want to Market Online.” Then I have a few lines about “You are in the right place if …” which covers the basic reasons people might want to join my business.
Product Page: Why Buy?
If your company allows you to use their company name as well as trademarked product names and images, then these definitely should go on your product page. If you not, you have one of two options.
You can either generically describe your products and then provide a form where people can enter their email address to receive more detailed information, or you can just link to a company-approved duplicated website. Either way, you need to provide people information about the products you offer. This is also a great place to include testimonials and resources relevant to your products, such as usage charts and helpful articles.
Opportunity Page: Why Join?
As with the product page, if you company allows you to use their trademarked names, by all means describe the opportunity and offer business resources. If not, you can again link to a duplicated website. In either case, the information needs to include a short description about why the opportunity is unique and the compensation plan.
Most importantly, this page needs to describe why people should join YOUR team rather than going with another distributor in the same company. This boils down to describing your areas of specialty, which I have described in previous blog posts.
About You: Why Are You Special?
This is where you really get to shine. Definitely post a couple of pictures of yourself. Then talk about your passion for your business, why you joined this particular company, and why your team (including your upline and downline) are special. You can also talk about your personal passions and interests on this page as well.
Contact: How Do I Reach You?
People need to have various ways to reach you. I like to include a web contact form as well as my email address and a phone number. The phone number can be either a direct line to your office or a voice mail number that sends an email alert when someone leaves you a message.
Having multiple avenues of contact is definitely important. Some people even include their Twitter and Facebook information, but I don’t advise offering any contact channels except the ones you are prepared to regularly check and respond to.
Optional Stuff
Of course, you can dress up your online MLM custom website as much as you want. You can offer a free consult via a web form, a resources or library section, and a testimonials page. But make sure you have all the basics down before you go crazy with the frills.
