Do you agree with William Shakespeare that “Brevity is the soul of wit?”
Most blog readers do. On average, people stay on blog sites for about 2 to 4 minutes. That’s not a whole lot of time for you to make your point. Popular social media man Chris Brogan agrees and that’s why in his list of “27 Blogging Secrets to Power Your Community,” secret #6 is “Brevity rules.”
In keeping with my experiment to implement and give you feedback on the ease or difficulty of implementing every one of Chris’ secrets from that list on my own home business blog, I’m going to make this post short. Today is day 3 of the 9 day experiment and I’m implementing secrets number 5, 6, and 19.
Secret #5: Share Good Stuff
Duh. Sharing blatant self-promotional garbage = zero traffic. Offer info that helps people improve some area of their life. So here’s some info that can help you with blogging and MLM. It’s a quick and dirty list of five of the best MLM blogs, both by content and Alexa rankings. These top bloggers can give you ideas for your own home business blog, teach you about the MLM industry (who is doing what), offer online marketing tips, and provide inspiration when you’re frustrated with your business.

This secret was easy to implement on my home business blog. If I look around the web for just 5 minutes I can find 20 great resources that will help out any MLM business.

Secret #19: Polite Social Sharing
Basically, if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed today and your post sucks, don’t share it via social networking platforms like Twitter. It’s better to retweet someone else’s great post. Chris also suggests asking a question that leads into your post, and then putting up a link to the post. Don’t just “blurt” every post automatically. That falls into the “oversharing” category! This secret? Easy as pie to put on my home business blog.
