Nose to Grindstone? Don’t Wear it Out!
Do you work too hard at your MLM business? Are you spending too many hours running on a hamster wheel but never getting anywhere? If so, then you may want to consider some ways to work smarter rather than harder on your MLM or network marketing business. Everywhere you look there are success stories of people growing their networks, bringing in large checks, and having fun so we know that success does happen.

But how does it happen? How do these people create success without working too hard? If you want to know then you need to start looking for the people who are successful. Start with your upline. If your upline is a truly successful MLM guru then all you have to do is pick up the phone and ask for help and guidance. Then listen, learn, and implement.
But what do you do if your upline is not a great teacher or guru? Chances are that he or she is not since 95% of people who join network marketing businesses fail within the first year. Then you have to look elsewhere. One way to find a successful leader is to tap into your company’s training calls. The outstanding leaders in the field are usually featured on these calls. You can also call your company and find out who in your upline is successful, and then don’t be afraid to call them. Most upline sponsors who are successful will help those seeking help, even if they are way down the network. Keep looking and asking for help until you find it.
Online Sources of Success
Another option for finding guidance is to visit some MLM forums, chat lists, and educational sites. Many of the people participating in these sites are very successful and you can learn a lot just by browsing. Whatever you do, remember that success in MLM is up to you, not your sponsor and not your company. Don’t get discouraged just because you don’t find the MLM guru of your dreams in the first week. Keep looking until you find someone who matches the way you think, and then start learning. Learning new marketing methods helps you work smart, so you don’t work too hard at your MLM business.
And of course, after learning, comes consistent effort. If you follow some of the best MLM leaders participating in forums or writing blogs, they will tell you exactly what they do to succeed. They share their information freely. They also tell you that what they do takes consistent effort over time and they usually encourage you not to come back and complain until you’ve applied their methods for six to twelve months. That’s right. Six to twelve months. That may seem like a long time but it’s not. Just think about how long it would take to launch any successful small business. It would take at least six to twelve months, if not longer, and require much more capital than an MLM business. Remember, too, that using methods that have proven to be successful over time means you will not work too hard on your business, you will work smart.
Consistent Level of Effort
Now it’s time to address the level of effort that it takes to implement these newfound guidelines. If, for instance, you are pursuing article marketing, you may have to write and submit one to three articles a day to article directories as well as apply some additional techniques like blogging and notifying update services about your article (called pinging). It can be hard work at first but you’ll find it gets easier over time. Take heart, and then get going!
